Time and Location

Seminars are held on Thursday afternoons from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the main auditorium of the Computer and Space Science Building (Rm. 2400, New Wing).

Audience

Seminars are generally well attended by faculty and students from the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, ESSIC and other departments of the University. They are also attended by scientists from NASA/GSFC, NOAA/NCEP, IGES/COLA, and other environmental science laboratories in the Washington Metropolitan Area. The series is widely advertised through direct-mailing and e-mail notices.

Due to the diverse background of the audience, we ask that you structure your talk so that the first 10 minutes are spent introducing the subject and motivating your work, and the next 10 minutes carefully explain the scientific strategy and techniques you have used, before presenting the details of your work. The total length of the talk should not exceed 50 minutes, to leave time for questions and discussion.
