Changing Default Shell

The default linux shell used when logging in either locally or remotely can be changed with the following command


The command will ask for your password and the location of the new shell. The two choices for shells are as follows.

  • /bin/bash
  • /bin/csh

(on our systems sh is equivalent to bash, and tsh is equivalent to csh )
