      ·   The Mediterranean is almost completely surrounded by land

o  Europe is to the north

o  Africa is to the south

o  Asia is to the east

·   It has an area of 2.5 million square kilometers, which is almost equal to the size of Argentina

·   It is connected to the Atlantic Ocean by the Strait of Gibraltar, which is only 14  kilometers (9 miles) wide.

·   The Mediterranean has an average depth of 1,500 meters (4,900 feet)

·   The Mediterranean’s deepest point is 5,267m (3.27 miles)
