College on Solar/Atmospheric Radiation

Under the sponsorship of the University of Ilorin, the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Abuja, Nigeria, the Nigerian Meteorological Service, and the International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy, a Workshop on College on Solar/Atmospheric Radiation: Principles, Measurement and Applications was held at Ilorin during October-November 1998.  About 50 people participated in this successful activity, which brought the EOS activity at Ilorin to the attention of the Nigerian scientific community.

Collaboration between Unilorin   and the Nigerian Meteorological Service under WMO

In response to an invitation from the Secretary General of WMO, Geneva, Switzerland, to the Director, Nigerian Meteorological Services, Lagos, Mr. Yusuf Salahu, the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to WMO, and with the strong support of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, a collaborative agreement between University of Ilorin and the Nigerian Meteorological Services was established.  Under this agreement, the Nigerian Meteorological Service will be actively involved in supporting the observational activity at University of Ilorin.  It is hoped that this collaboration will be of mutual benefit and will ensure the continued successful operation of the Ilorin BSRN station.
