     Kiruna 2010

Images from the RECONCILE end of mission party:

Thomas Peter (Institute of Atmospheric and Climate Science, Zurich, Switzerland) and

Stefan Borrmann (Institute for Physics of the Atmosphere, Mainz, Germany)

give a long-winded, yet humorous speech "end of mission" speech.

Kurt Mäki of the Swedish Aviation Authority explains the details

behind the production of a home-made wine served at the end of party dinner

(this wine was not tried by most until the beer supply had been exhausted).

Hideaki Nakajima (National Institute for Environmental Studies, Tsukuba, Japan),

Marc von Hobe (Institute for Stratospheric Chemistry, Jülich, Germany), and

Ross Salawitch (University of Maryland) pose for a picture that

embodies the international spirit of cooperation and friendship that

typifies a field campaign such as RECONCILE.

More international spirit: Ross Salawitch with Markus Rex

(Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research,  Potsdam, Germany),

Francis Pope and Isla Young (both of Cambridge University, England).

Geophysica pilot Oleg Shepetkov makes sure that German graduate student

Tobias Wegner does not leave thirsty, even though the supply of beer

has been exhausted, by pouring him a clear liquid drink imported from Russia.
