Description of Plots:
The wind roses were created using a program called WRPLOT from Lakes Environmental. This program uses hourly data from stations and plots the frequency of direction and speed in a wind rose. For example, the more bars coming from the same cardinal direction, the more frequent the wind blows from that direction. In terms of speed, the thicker the colored line the more frequent the wind blows at that speed (see the legend at the left corner). The directions indicated are traditional cardinal directions. However an easy mistake to make is to confuse which way the wind blows. In meteorology, the wind blows FROM the south, NOT TOWARDS the north.
