Agriculture is a very important part of our economy and monitoring its activity is crucial to crop production.  Soil moisture is a parameter used for agricultural purposes to determine the wetness/dryness of the ground.  Below are links to the Climate Prediction Center's (CPC) soil moisture maps and the crop moisture index.
