Maryland State Climatologist Office

People

Your State Climatologist is Konstantin Vinnikov.  He is a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, University of Maryland.  He emigrated from Russia in 1991 and is a US citizen.  He belongs to two scientific schools in climatology, Russian (Michail I. Budyko), and American (Syukuro Manabe).  He was the lead and contributing author of several IPCC reports on Climate Change Science and CCSP report on Temperature Trend in Lower Atmosphere.  He is an expert in analysis of observed and model simulated data on contemporary climate change. 

 

         The Assistant State Climatologist is Graduate Student Lisa Wojdan.  She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology (minor in math) from SUNY Brockport in May 2008.  She was a four-year member of the field hockey team and was captain her senior year.  Lisa was also a four-year Scholar Athlete and a member of the Honors Program.  She is currently a member of the American Meteorological Society (Student Chapter).  Lisa's research interests include climate change, air-sea interaction, and synoptic meteorology.
