Department of Meteorology  Global Ocean Reanalysis Project
Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are the reanalysis data sets?
Our group at University of Maryland is constructing retrospective analyses of ocean circulation.  Information about the data sets and their access is available at: www.atmos.umd.edu/~ocean.

2. How good are the results?
We have published several papers already examining the results and are collaborating with a number of studies which are currently underway.  We think the results are very promising, but warn the reader that a critical eye is needed.

3. How do I access the data sets?
Access either through DODS or the LAS is described at www.atmos.umd.edu/~ocean.  Versions are also available at IRI, IPRC, GFDL, and several other locations.

4. Can I get a quick look at the results?
For your entertainment we have constructed a series of short movie loops based on results of an older version of the model.

5. List of references?
