Spectral Element Atmospheric Model;global model offering greatest flexibility in scale modeling, regional detail, and parallel processing.
Tile spherical surface with arbitrary number and size of elements;
Use 2-D spectral expansion of arbitrary dimensions in each element;
Test with various representations:
- Shallow water model.-ran the standard test set
- Ran a 3D model with Held-Suarez conditions
- Ran a high resolution 3-D model with a polar vortex
